Trees floating over water?

This image has something unusual. If you look closely at the area where the trees are, they appear to be floating over the water. They aren’t but you can’t tell what’s below or around the trees. On further inspection, the trees have shadows underneath that look like inversions of the tree image with sunlight all around. This is actually a view across the water from Ft. Myers beach to Sanibel. Thanks for visiting, Ed Gleichman FineWorldPhotography.com …

Shimmering crab

Another example of refraction. I was reminded of it when I saw an image on Bing of dolphins swimming just beneath the surface of the water. This was taken in the late afternoon on a bright sunny day. I didn’t have to chase after the crab, it was running right past my feet Ed Gleichman FineWorldPhotography.com Ed Gleichman – FineArtAmerica   P.S. Shimmering airplane

There are times that you just can’t get a sharp image of objects. It doesn’t matter what exposure setting, ISO setting, or for that matter, how much light there is. The image below is one of those. It was a bright day and very hot in Ft. Lauderdale.

How to get to Fisher Island, Miami

To get to Fisher Island just take the Fisher Island Ferry. It departs the terminal on the MacArthur Causeway, at the east side near Miami Beach, every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day. It takes a few minutes to get there but it’s like going to a different world, a retreat with luxurious old-world style.

Take the Fort Lauderdale water taxi

If you go to the Las Olas Riverfront at the Fort Lauderdale on New River, you can take a water taxi to Ft Lauderdale Beach.  It’s a longish ride (this loop is 3 hours; $22 gives you access all day; you can stop off at different points and get back on later as there are several boats; see the link at the bottom of the article) but you get to see some very nice homes and …
