Downtown Clarksville and the Roxy

Original Article (there are 2 updates below): It’s been several years since I took the picture below and much longer since I had been downtown and at the Roxy Theater before that, in fact, going back to my college days at Austin Peay State University.  The theater looked the same but the lot next to it didn’t, mostly because there was no mural in those days and if my memory serves me right, there was a …

Lincoln Center, Miami Beach, and why did I take this picture?

Usually, you look over an area and you might like something about it, a bridge, the color of a sky, a feature of a building, etc. So you try to find the right angle or the way to highlight a feature or, well, there are lots of reasons to take a picture. But sometimes, I don’t know why I take a picture, or more precisely, why I take the picture I take. As in the …

Arch in Glass, the Espirito Santo Plaza Building, Miami

If you go anywhere near downtown Miami go south a little on US1/Brickell Avenue and you will pass the Espirito Santo Plaza building, North American headquarters for the Espirito Santo Bank. I was riding around the north Tampa area in Pasco County with a friend when I happened to see almost the exact scene below, so I had him turn around.

Updated 5 June 2013: A previous category of images, Art Deco, needed to be changed to Art Deco and Art Moderne due to some items I added from a small town in Tennessee, the Roxy Regional Theater in Clarksville. I’ve also added a few Art Deco images and it’s up to eight now but I’ll be adding more Miami Beach/South Beach images when I can. Thanks for visiting, Ed SOCIAL MEDIA & ONLINE PRESENCE: ARTICLES | ABOUT | TWITTER | …

Take the Fort Lauderdale water taxi

If you go to the Las Olas Riverfront at the Fort Lauderdale on New River, you can take a water taxi to Ft Lauderdale Beach.  It’s a longish ride (this loop is 3 hours; $22 gives you access all day; you can stop off at different points and get back on later as there are several boats; see the link at the bottom of the article) but you get to see some very nice homes and …
