How to get to Fisher Island, Miami

To get to Fisher Island just take the Fisher Island Ferry. It departs the terminal on the MacArthur Causeway, at the east side near Miami Beach, every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day. It takes a few minutes to get there but it’s like going to a different world, a retreat with luxurious old-world style.

Of course, I’ve never been there and maybe never will. It’s actually not as easy as getting on the ferry. You have to be an owner, a club member,or a guest of the exclusive luxury resort. And it will cost you. Well, not for the ferry. It will cost you to be in any of these three groups. There may be another way, which is to be a guest of a resident.

Did I mention exclusive? The island had the highest per capita income in the US. And it was a winter home for the Vanderbilts. Now it has owners with names such as Oprah Winfrey and Mel Brooks.

By the way, if you are in any of the groups mentioned, you don’t actually have to take the ferry, you can take your yatch to the Fisher Island marinas.
